Greetings from the Organising Committee for the Asian Undergraduate Research Symposium 2018! What, you may well ask, is the Asian Undergraduate Research Symposium (AURS)? And why are we reaching out to you? Well, we are reaching out to tell you more about AURS, and how you can help support the researchers of the future. The AURS is now in its fourth year and is held within The Asian Conference on Education, IAFOR's flagship Education conference in central Tokyo. However, AURS links across all of the conferences and disciplines as the participants have, in the past, come from a range of backgrounds. AURS is an opportunity for undergraduate scholars from across all fields and disciplines to participate in a symposium where students share their academic research experiences and the knowledge they have acquired as an undergraduate working with professors or academic mentors. Taking place in a supportive and collegial environment, AURS2018 provides undergraduates with a motivating and thought-provoking opportunity to: *network with other undergraduates and academics from around the world; *find out how their participation in the symposium can aid them in their future directions; *learn and hone presentation skills in a workshop environment before presenting their research in a "live" poster session before ACE attendees; *learn to interact across national and cultural borders; *learn to communicate with their peers and professors from different universities; *learn how these presentation skills translate to a variety of professional environments. All student presenters will also have the chance to attend other academic sessions at ACE as an observer. Now that you know what AURS is. How can you assist? We are asking that you let your colleagues and institutions know about this special event for undergraduates. If you have undergraduates who do research under your guidance, why not encourage them to attend? Perhaps you can bring them with you as you come to ACE in Tokyo in October. Can you encourage your institution to support two, three, or even more promising research undergraduates to attend? AURS2018 will take place on Sunday 14 October in Tokyo, but students who register for the event will have access to all presentations of ACE2018 as audience members. The dates of the conference are 13-15 October. Abstract submission closes on July 31. We would love to see undergraduates from your area attend – please help us to spread the word!
